Jordan Yamamoto called out Mets fans on Twitter for harassing his wife Madison after his shoddy outing on Sunday.

The right-hander allowed five runs in four innings in a series-closing, 5-1 setback, but his wife seemingly bore the brunt of the outing.

“I know Twitter is sometimes not a very nice place and to some of you it may seem fun to troll people. But you don’t go an harass my WIFE!” Yamamoto wrote Monday morning. “She isn’t the one playing the game nor wearing the uniform!”

Madison Yamamoto, who tweeted she was flying to Miami for the game, alluded to the behavior on Sunday.

“Wow, from love to now hate so fast Mets fans,” she tweeted. “As my phones blowing up with nasty tweets..I just want to remind you that we’re human. I am a WIFE, cheering on her husband. No matter the runs. Your passion for the game is great and all, but stay classy.”

Yamamoto thanked those Mets fans who defended his wife, and expressed hope they could move forward without any repeat behavior.

This was Yamamoto’s second appearance for the Mets after he allowed one run over 2 2/3 in a win over the Cardinals on May 5. The 25-year-old pitched for the Marlins the past two seasons.
